ACS alleges lack of coordination
ITANAGAR, Aug 17: The state Govt has made some temporary financial arrangements for convenience of the Arunachalee students who are studying in ITFT College Chandigarh. The amount will now be transferred to the ITFT college account as advance accommodation charges. This was informed by Arunachal Civil Society (ACS), an NGO of the state.

ANSU calls on education minister
ITANAGAR, Aug 17: Responding to grievances of some Arunachalee students and their parents that the Maharashtra higher and technical education directorate has refused to give admission to some students who cleared state JEE for higher study in various colleges of the country, a team of All Nyishi Students’ Union (ANSU) led by its president Sikka Gapak today met the Education Minister Bosiram Siram and requested him take up the matter with Maharashtra counterpart for hassle free admission of students in the institutes at the earliest. It is found that director of higher and technical education, GoAP fixed last date of admission on 30th August but Higher and Technical Education, Govt of Maharashtra had decided to take admission before 15th August, said an ANSU release.

JE dies in road mishap
ITANAGAR, Aug 17: The Chairman and Managing Director of Hydro Power Development Corporation of Arunachal Pradesh along with the entire board of directors has condoled the demise of Tajum Kotin who passed away in a tragic road accident near Zemithang in Tawang district on August 14 last.
Late Tajum Kotin, (28) a native of Rapum village under Mechuka Sub Division of West Siang district was JE (Civil) with the corporation.
In its condolence message, they wrote, he was admired for his cheerful behavior. His contribution in HPDCAPL, particularly in project site Zemithang SHP, Tawang will always be remembered.
His demise is a great loss to HPDCAPL.

Ensure effective use of land, says Tuki
ITANAGAR, Aug 17: “We need to prepare a long term prospective plan to ensure proper use of land in the state” asserted Chief Minister Nabam Tuki while taking part in the discussion of State Land Use Board meeting here at CM’s conference hall this afternoon.

Anshu, Tine participate in Climbathon 2013
ITANAGAR, Aug 17: Everester duo Anshu Jamsenpa and Tine Mena has just returned home after successful completion of Climbathon 2013 in Bara Shigri, the second longest glacier in the world.
While Anshu summited Shigri Parvat (21,9,29 ft) on August 4 at 11 am, Tine scaled Kullu Pumori (21,6,25 ft) at 10 am in Bara Shigri glacier.
Climbathon 2013 was flagged off from Atal Bihari Vajpai Mountaineering Institute Manali by Col. H S Chauhan, President of Indian Mountaineering Foundation. It ended with the successful summit of total five peaks including Khangsering (20,5,52 ft) and two virgin peaks of 20,7,57 ft and 20,5,85 ft.
The significance of the expedition was that it was done in alpine style which is a self contained and self sustained climbing expedition involving carrying all of one’s food, tents, climbing equipments, fixing ropes and non usage of sherpas and porters.
During the last stretch of the summit attempt Anshu and Tine had to climb the snow clad peak continuously for over seventeen hours non stop. “Our lady mountaineers have proved their mettle as several other top Indian mountaineers including four Everesters had to abandon their alpine expedition halfway due to health reasons and over exhaustion,” stated Tsering Wange president Arunachal Mountaineering & Adventure sports Association.
Union Minister Ninong Ering while congratulating the summiteers stated that Arunachalee mountaineers have become a source of inspiration for scores of youths across the nation. He added that adventure sports in Arunachal Pradesh have made a quantum jump in the past few years which only shows that youths from Arunachal Pradesh are at par if not better than the mainlanders.

Malinithan needs Govt attention

ITANAGAR, Aug 17: The fame Malinithan, a holy place of worship, draws large number of visitors and pilgrims every day. Malinithan is a temple site ruin situated under the Likabali sub division of West Siang district. Relics of the stone images of Malinithan were found in the early twenties. During the course of series of excavation starting from 1968 and ending in 1971, ruins of temples and valuable sculptures were unearthed at this site.
According to the local legend associated with this place, Lord Krishna carried away Rukmini on the eve of her marriage with Shishupala and came to this place to take rest and they were welcomed by Parvati with garland of flowers. Parvati after seeing the beauty of Rukmini named her as malini which means wife of a gardener and hence the place got its name “Malinithan”. It is believed that Krishna and Rukmini took rest at the present Rukmini temple located about two kilometres away from the Malinithan temple for a night and the next morning after they got up they took bath at the water fall “Akashi Ganga” located about twelve kilometers away. Akashi Ganga is believed to be associated with the legend of Parvati (sati) mentioned in eighth century Kalika Purana. The legend says, that Lord Shiva after seeing the dead body of sati could not resist himself from anger and started doing tandava (the dance of destruction), to bring him out of attachment for the body of sati and save the world from destruction. Lord Vishnu used his Sudarshan Chakra to cut the body of sati into pieces. During this process, the head of sati is believed to have fallen in this area. And hence at the present day Akashi Ganga have a huge number of visitors every year who come to take a holy dip in its water believing that it will wash away their sin.

Atma governing board meeting held
AALO, Aug 17: West Siang Deputy Commissioner has suggested the agriculture department to introduce double cropping project in the area for the benefit of farmers.
Chairing the governing body meeting of Agriculture Technology Management Agency (ATMA) here recently, the DC said that double cropping will help the farmers to break away from the monoculture of paddy. It would also form direct linkage between the farmers and agriculture department thereby guaranteeing assured income once the project is successfully adopted by the farming community, the DC said.
The Chairman of the Governing Body has also promised to extend financial assistance to one progressive fish farmer of Biru village to construct an overhead tank at his fish breeding farm.
District Agriculture Officer cum Project Director ATMA, West Siang Karbom Riram highlighted the progress and achievements made under ATMA Programme during the current year.
Jumdo Jini, ADO (ER) ATMA, shared the status of the various activities hitherto with PowerPoint presentations. He also gave brief account of ATMA, its aims and objectives, and methodology of implementations.
The progressive farmers present during the discussion expressed their gratitude to the agriculture department for rendering timely and much needed logistic supports. They suggested PD, ATMA to give impetus on vermi culture in the district as vermi compost will be a suitable substitution to chemical fertilizers towards organic farming.

The HODs were also asked to provide the details by next week so that proper plan of action could be chalked out.
Emphasizing the importance of revenue recovery drive, the revenue generating department, especially electricity departments were asked to start recovery drive immediately as the pending bills are very high. EE (Electrical) informed that the drive will be started from August 25. The DC assured if required Executive Magistrate and Police assistance will be provided.
EE, PHED was asked to start disconnection drive of all illegal tapers. He informed that same has been planned and will be started within a week. All the Executive Engineers of Works Department were sensitized about the importance of various civil works like road, bridges etc. and were asked to expedite works in a expeditious manner and they were also requested to provide the details of the expected date of completion of various works by next week so that the same could be communicated to the govt.
Among other issues, employment generation, skill development, CM Paryatan Vikas Yojna, Army Recruitment Rally etc. were also discussed in detail.

Mass social service conducted at Kimin and Itanagar
ITANAGAR, Aug 17: The All Kimin Kakoi Youth Welfare Association conducted a mass social service at Kimin Community Health Centre on Wednesday.
Supported by CO Liken Koyu, Senior VO Dr Tarh Taram, MO Dr Tana Aruna Likha, Supply Inspector Bengia Nabdo and the PRI leaders of the area, the broken down CHC was reconstructed during the daylong social service.

The municipal members of Ward no. 22, Itanagar Municipal Council also conducted a mass social service in its jurisdiction in collaboration with the department of urban development today.
During the daylong social service, littered garbage bins and drains were cleared around the premise of Vartak Marg, Inter State Police Wireless, the street leading to the high court and Polo Park area.
Later, the councilor Tarh Pacho while calling on the general public to stay healthy asked them to dispose off their garbage bin properly.
In another mass cleanup service today, roadside, drainage, footpath and garbages were also cleared at Sector A and B of Ward no 18. All the sector dwellers participated in the drive.
While reiterating the poor condition of road and drainage system in the area, the Councilor Gora Lotak appealed the PWD and UD department for its maintenance.
Kherang men and Watong women win volleyball titles
ITANAGAR, Aug 17: Kherang men beat Watong (A) while Watong eves defeated JNV, Hawai to win the Anjaw district level men and women’s volleyball titles on August 15.

The winning teams were awarded cash prizes of Rs 10,000 each along with trophies while the runners up teams were given cash prizes of Rs.5,000 each along with trophies.

The closing ceremony on August 15 was attended by the Deputy Commissioner, Zilla Chairperson Heyomai Tawsik, HoDs and panchayat members.
Speaking on the occasion, the ZPC advised the participants to make good use of such opportunity and play sports with true sportsmen spirit.
The tournament was conducted to promote games and sports activities among youths in the district.
